A good principal is one who… leads by example. A good principal is continuously in and out of various classrooms becoming a part of the instruction and learning. A good principal is willing to take on the job of any member of the faculty should a need arise. A quality instructional program includes… all of the above. It is not only about the curriculum but about the students, faculty, and staff. It has a leader that takes charge and is the facilitator of teaching and learning. The leader continues to use active research to train staff on new and effective ways of delivering instruction. The staff is then to use those new techniques and is unafraid of breaking habits where they teach the same way to different students every year. The vision is clearly articulated and expectations are held high. Teachers realize that criticism given is not a personal attack but rather help given to a teacher to improve their craft. |
